To understand the current situation of Peruvian women, it is essential to consider history. Particularly the last 200 years, where there has been a constant struggle for women in the scope of their rights and gender equality, going through various forms of domination, violence, and abuse of power (Rosas, 2021). To complement this blog, we must attach an article from the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights (Idehpucp) regarding the role of women in the construction of the Peruvian republic.

Despite the orientation of the 19th century, where women fulfilled exclusively the role of wives and mothers. There was a reconfiguration of roles where the female gender began to act in the public space, although with secondary roles. The ladies begin to contribute economically, politically, and socially in representative moments, such as in the War of the Pacific. It should be noted that many remained anonymous despite their constant struggle to protect the family. On the other hand, a generation of illustrators engaged in writing and in public opinion was born in the Republican era, who also advocated for women's rights. The attached article mentions women such as Dora Mayer, considered a precursor of indigenism and Peruvian sociological thought. As well as other wonderful and brilliant professionals who have contributed to different parts of the country, thus being able to exercise their civil, political, and social rights.

In addition to political marginalization, Peruvian women have historically been silenced and undervalued many times. Even so, today many investigations, articles and other informative materials such as the one attached below seek to rescue various female characters. Even this blog has as its objective consider the essential role of women throughout our nation's history.
